Chocolate Flower Farm, LLC, has acquired the exclusive rights to the proprietary chocolate scented and colored candle from Northwest Reflections, a manufacturer of high quality, hand-made candles for the home decor market. The candle will be the cornerstone of an expanded line of candles and other private label products that will be manufactured on the farm and made available to retailers worldwide.
Named "Essence of Chocolate", the candle differs from all other candles on the market not only for the distinctive chocolate scent but also for the elegant look and feel that is created by being hand-poured and hand-fired. "The scent is so alluring that it pulls people into our shop from half a block away, entranced with the smell. Other shopkeepers tell people that they must visit our shop 'just for the smell of it'," laughs owner Marie Lincoln. The candle scent is an elegant gourmet chocolate, not a sweet chocolate, and it scents a room without even being burned.

According to owners Marie Lincoln and Bill Schlicht, the expansion into the candle making business was one of serendipity, rather than intent. "When we started the nursery last year, we were told that we had to experience this amazing candle," stated Lincoln. "It had a very elegant chocolate scent, almost addictive, and we knew that we had to have it to offer in our nursery. It became so popular that we had to open a retail shop in town to accommodate the traffic it drew," continued Lincoln. Schlicht added, "When Northwest Reflections announced that they were selling their company we knew that we could not be without the chocolate candle because it had become such an integral part of our brand. So we made the decision to acquire the proprietary formula, training, and equipment and manufacture them here on the farm."

The "Essence of Chocolate" candle is the second private label product produced by Chocolate Flower Farm for wholesale distribution. It joins the popular series of Chocolate Garden Seed Kits that were introduced at the 2006 Northwest Flower & Garden Show.
